10/12/2020:
1. Summary.
We saw the presentations about the different topics,
in this case we saw and participated in “Writing in English” (with the alphabet),
“Reading in English” (with a story about feelings and a "kahoot") and “Speaking with support”
(with a song and a bingo of activities for your free time). After each one, we
evaluated them and assigned numerical marks.
2. What I’ve learnt.
I’ve learnt the possible activities that we could
create in order to teach different skills like writing or reading. We know the
traditional types of exercises such as “listen and imitate” that is used in the
Direct Method, but in this way, they propose activities with another point of
view to teach these skills. We saw ways to motivate students through
gamification.
We also worked how we could introduce more concepts at
the same time as contents, like the feelings in reading or art in speaking.
3. Opinion.
From my point of view, we have to be sure of the order
of teaching skills. In this way, reading could be taught before writing, but it’s
better to introduce the vocabulary for writing from the first year through
speaking in English all the time to practice the pronunciation and then start
with the written format of this vocabulary. In conclusion, we have to offer effective
learning, so we have to be focused on doing the task not in using the specific
skill, for example speaking. In this way, to teach a song we could introduce it
sentence by sentence or word by word, but through gamification, not only with
concepts and rules.
